Te Runanga o Nga Kaimahi Maori
The SFWU is a treaty based organisation, and gives honour and effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi with Maori and Tauiwi as equal partners. Te Runanga is the organisation inside the Union for Maori members.

How does Te Runanga work?
Te Runanga meets four times a year. It is required to submit reports to the National Executive through its representatives and is entitled to submit remits to the Delegates Conferences. Click here to read Te Runanga National Convenor's report to the National Executive.

Who are the representatives of Te Runanga?
Te Runanga is made up of a Convenor (who is responsible for co-ordinating meetings, and is the main contact for issues which require input or advice), and up to nine regional representatives (three from each region - Northern, Central and Southern).
A Regional Convenor is elected for a two-year term by the Komiti a Rohe at its biennial regional hui and they are responsible for the convening and setting up of Komiti a Rohe.
