The SFWU Pacific Islands Komiti also helps provide a voice for the pacific island community, and regularly supports events like Pasefika in Auckland (where we have a stall every year). It also plays a central role in organising an inter-union sports day tournament on Labour Day every year.
How does it work?
Komiti Pasefika meets four times a year. It is required to submit reports to the National Executive through its representatives and is entitled to submit remits to the Delegates Conferences.
Who is on the Komiti?
The Pacific Islands Komiti is made up of a Convenor (responsible for co-ordinating meetings, and the main contact for issues which require input or advice), and up to nine regional representatives (three from each region - Northern, Central and Southern). It also includes our Matriarch, Fili'iamata Fiu.
How can I get involved?
