Posted On: Tuesday, 20 December 2005
Over 100 workers and supporters picketed outside SkyCity Hamilton casino last Friday night. The strike and supporters picket was the fourth strike to hit the casino as unionised workers attempt to negotiate a collective agreement for the first time.
Workers from Auckland were also present, where SkyCity has had a union collective agreement with unionised workers for over four years. Hamilton workers are seeking pay parity with the Auckland casino workers who do the same jobs for the same company but are paid up to 25% more.
