SkyCity Auckland made a $56million profit in the first 6 months of this year.  Their huge income is reflected in profit growth of over 200% since 1996.  Today, safety concerns and questions about host responsibility are surfacing, and it's becoming hard to see how the Auckland community is winning at SkyCity.

With average pay rates around $12/hr, most SkyCity workers are among the lower paid in our community.  Unsociable shifts, distraught customers, understaffing and a flea infestation make it a tough job - could you "shine" after 8-10 hours on your feet in the VIP room or rushing to clean 10 toilets in 10 minutes?
